No assurances on the closure of garda stations

Posted on September 23, 2009 at 12:13 PM

During Leaders' Questions today the Labour Leader Eamon Gilmore TD challenged the Tanaiste over her failure to rule out the closure of Garda stations as recommended in the McCarthy report/An Bord Snip.

Eamon said: "There is a recommendation in the McCarthy report [concerning] the closure of 350 small garda stations. Will you give the House an assurance that those stations will not be closed?"

The Tanaiste was not able to give any assurances.

As always Eamon's contribution can be viewed on the accompanying video while you will be able to read the full transcript of Leaders' Questions later today on the Oireachtas website.
