'Justin Keating - democrat, socialist and a man of deep conviction' - Gilmore

On New Year's Eve we lost a friend and former colleague, Justin Keating. In January we posted Michael D Higgins's tribute which he delivered at Justin's funeral and today the Dáil heard messages of sympathy to Justin's family who were present in the visitor's gallery.

Eamon said: "Justin Keating was a major public figure who over a long life stretching from 1930 to January this year served the State and society in a wide variety of roles with distinction and devotion."
