Cllr Ger Gibbons
Ger set up and ran WASP in Wilton during the 1980’s which catered for over 100 children and was one of the first youth clubs to be affiliated to Ogra Chorcai. At 36 he is the youngest candidate in the field. After joining the Labour Party in 1999, Ger has been involved with Ciaran Lynch T.D. in a number of his campaigns . Ger would be better know for the work he has done with young people in the area having set up Fr Mathews Juvenile Basketball in 2002, now catering for over 250 children across the south-side. The Club is now one of the top Clubs in the country.
Ger was named by 96fm/C103 GAA Sport Star of the Month in 2008 after winning two All Ireland titles for Hurling and Football, for the first time as the Cork Vocational Schools coach.
Ger Gibbons brings with him a wealth of experience having worked as a secondary school teacher for 13 years, Ger is presently employed by County Cork VEC and is based in Fermoy.
