Bawnmore Respite Services At Crisis point

Posted on June 14, 2010 at 09:32 AM

i attended a meeting / protest of very angry and concerned parents of children with intellectual disabilities currently availing of respite services from bawnmore in limerick.

It is absolute madness that the HSE cannot find a paltry €150,000 in funding to ensure that the respite house remains open. When one thinks of the scandalous waste of taxpayers money already in evidence within the HSE this situation werebye we will see elderly parents trying to cope with love ones because of reduced services on offer from the brothers of charity is just disgraceful.

i am going to raise this issue with the minister for health in the dail this week and try and have the necessary funding restored immediately.

this respite service must be maintained if we have any sense of social and moral responsibility to those less fortunate and more vulnerable than ourselves

i will keep you posted let me know your views
