Cllr John Gallagher
Born and raised in the Liberties, Councillor John Gallagher has a reputation for being a hard working and effective Councillor for South West Inner City. By all accounts he has delivered a great deal for his constituents, especially for the most disadvantaged people.
John, as he is known to everyone, was first elected to Dublin City Council in 1999 and is a member of the Council's Housing and Arts, Culture, Leisure and Youth Affairs Strategic Policy Committees. He is also Chairman of the Traveller's Accommodation Committee and is on the pre-regeneration boards of Dolphin House and St Teresa's Gardens/Chamber Court and the regeneration board of St. Michael's House.
Local history is one of his passions and he is a sponsor of the Liberties Heritage Projects. John is also an active conservationist and preservationist - in the late 1970's he supported Professor F.X. Martin's attempts to preserve Viking Heritage on Wood Quay, and he was on An Taisce's council for a number of years.
