Seafood Strategies - Welcome

Labour Party Senator, Michael McCarthy has welcomed the launch of Bord Iascaigh Mhara’s three year strategy and the Irish Seafood National Programme to 2013.
Speaking after the launch Senator McCarthy said, ‘I welcome the launch of these two important documents for the seafood industry. In the case of the Seafood National Programme it was first promised in 2007 but despite the three year delay it is here now and must be welcomed.
‘The Government have now committed to a significant investment in the Irish seafood sector and that is very positive for all involved. This investment will now have to be followed through on. I am calling on the Government to follow up with the actions and supports that will be necessary to allow this industry reach its full potential.’
