McCarthy welcomes amenity funding for local groups

Labour TD for Cork South-West Michael McCarthy has welcomed the announcement that Cork County Council has this week approved around €50,000 worth of amenity grants for local groups.
“I am pleased to see that many local clubs, societies and committees have been approved their amenity grant funding from the council this year. The money will go some way towards assisting these groups in their day-to-day duties which will in turn improve the quality of life for the many individuals who use the services. Many of these groups are at the heart of local community life and it is imperative that we sufficiently resource them so that they can continue to contribute to the wellbeing of the local area.
Everyone appreciates that there are many huge national and international challenges facing our country. However it so important that we don’t lose sight of basic community needs and this funding ensures that many of those needs will be met over the coming year.”
