Tenant Purchase

The following is a reply to a motion put forward by Cllr Michael O'Donovan at a County Council meeting on 11th July 2011
MOTION; Councillor M O'Donovan
"That this Committee welcomes the enhanced discounts now available to Council tenants to purchase their homes and calls for every possible help to be given to these long-term tenants."
REPORT;
Following the adoption of the 2011 Fixed Term Tenant Purchase Scheme on 14th March 2011 all eligible tenants (circa 3528) were notified of the terms of the scheme.
Application forms and explanatory memoranda are also available on the Council's website. The Council arranges for the administrative process to enable purchase including conveyance at no cost to the applicant, valuation, BER Certs, maps etc.
Applications for loans will be examined if the applicant has two refusals from banks or building societies before applying to the Council for a loan, in accordance with the terms of the scheme.
