Shortall Demands Action on Park Dumping

Issued : Monday 12 April, 2010

Local Labour T.D Róisín Shortall has requested urgent action be taken to deal with the serious illegal dumping problem at Parkview/ Poppintree Park.

Ms Shortall commented, 'The site is in a deplorable condition. The developer, Lyndonbarry, has left large quantities of building materials strewn around and this has led to a lot of pilfering. In addition, the site is being widely used for illegal dumping.'

'I visited the site myself some weeks ago and saw first hand the amount of builders' waste, domestic waste and clothing waste on site. It's simply appalling. The Developer failed to secure the site, which has led to extensive illegal dumping.'

'I contacted Dublin City Council on 1st March to highlight the extent of the problem, but no action whatsoever has been taken since then. I am once again calling on the Council to take action to secure the site and ensure that no further illegal dumping will take place.'
