CLLR. RONAN McMANUS WELCOMES AN BORD PLEANALA'S DECISION ON TELECOMMUNICATIONS MAST.
Issued : Friday 28 May, 2010
Labour Councillor Ronan McManus has welcomed the decision by An Bord
Pleanala to refuse permission for the Telecommunications Mast currently
located in the Bray Garda Station.
"I welcome the decision by An Bord Pleanala not to grant retention for the
telecommunications mast at Bray Garda Station on Convent Avenue", said
Cllr. Ronan McManus.
"I was contacted by concerned residents when this application was first
made and objected to it at the next council meeting. The retention was
subsequently refused by Bray Town Council as it was the opinion of the
Council's planning department that a structure of this size should not have
been erected on this site.
"Convent Avenue and its environs are residential areas and the visual
impact of the mast has had a severe effect on the surrounding properties.
While I appreciate that there is a need for telecommunications
infrastructure to service the town, the site selected for this antenna was
completely inappropriate.
"I am delighted that An Bord Pleanala decided to uphold the council's
decision and I would call on the applicants to move swiftly to remove the
structures. The local residents living in the area were very strong in
their opposition to the Telecommunications Mast and must be congratulated
on all their efforts", concluded Cllr. McManus.
