Mayor Sean Counihan
Born in Killarney town, near the famed Fitzgerald Stadium which was to influence my life and involvement in sport. I played football and basketball to a very high level. Later on I gave a lot of my time back to young people in Killarney through my involvement with the Community Games. In the early 90's my involvement with the Legion Club at both juvenile and senior level lead to the senior team winning two county titles. It was a proud achievement for the Club; having won the first and only titles since 1947. Later on in 1997 I trained the East Kerry team which won three County Senior Championships from 1997 until 1999 and had the honour of working with players such as Seamus Moynihan, Donal Daly, Johnny Crowley Declan O'Keeffe and many more.
Aside from sports I have also been Chair of the Council of Trade Unions in Killarney and will continue to be a an advocate of Labour politics.
I would welcome the opportunity to discuss any local issues of concern to you
regards
Sean
