Thomas RedmondCllr Thomas Redmond

Hello my name is Cllr Thomas Redmond I am 32 years old and a Labour Party representative on Athy town council.
I was born in Athy, moved to London to go to university and moved back in 2002. I am married to Evelyn and we have two
children Peter and Kate. I studied psychiatric nursing and am currently working in Tallaght Hospital.
I have been employed here in Tallaght for over 6 years, and very much enjoy my job. I also have a successful catering business specializing
in Pig on a spit catering.see(www.pigspit.ie)

I am therefore a commuter and the only one of the Athy town council working  fulltime outside the town.
Issues of immediate concern, such as the need for are opening of our library on Saturdays and badly served ghost estates, will be
central issues for me as a town councilor. I also plan to highlight other
issues such as the problem of litter, the need for improved infrastructure, the
further development of tourism and the future of our local skate park

I will actively represent the interests of all the people of Athy in relation
to these important issues and I welcome any concerns or opinions you may have
in relation to any local issues.
Issues which I am actively committed to are:
The reopening of the Athy library on Saturdays
The fixing of housing estates left unfinished by unscrupulous
developers.
The improvements of commerce in Athy and fighting for Kildare IDA
to visit the town at least twice yearly.
Making the Athy town council an easier place to access from a
communication point of view and getting information to people in a timely
manner
Organizing resident associations.
Health promotion for Men’s health and women’s in the town, with Ireland’s
top health professionals.
These are only some of the issues that I am dealing with, if there are other issues you want brought to council I and my fellow councilors
will happily help. I am a voice for the people in Athy with no voice, and I am a voice that won’t be silenced on Athy town council. I represent those in my
community seeking refuge, not getting what is rightfully theirs and being let down.
